- This triptych depicts a strategic meeting of commanders of Japan's imperial army, which has been given the responsibility of suppressing the rebellion led by Saigo Takamori (1827-77), a samurai from Kagoshima. On the table is a map of Kyushu, from where Saigo began his campaign against the imperial government in his native Kagoshima Prefecture.
