- Study for an illustration for a 1946 edition of The Complete Poems and Stories of Edgar Allan Poe, published by Knopf in New York. This study was likely for the poem, The Raven, first published in 1845. At upper left, a veined left hand, seen from the back, against a black and purple ground. Falling down vertically from the thumb, a black feather.
