- Description
- Study for an illustration for a Knopf edition (unpublished) of Carl Van Vechten's controversial novel, N***** Heaven, originally published in 1926. Two figures, abstractly rendered, facing one another. The figure on the left is depicted standing, and wearing a long red robe or dress. The figure on the right appears to be in a seated position, and is dressed in black. The figure in red raises one hand above the head of the figure in black. Yellow brushstrokes suggest the background surrounding the two figures.
