- Two illustrations for Elgin Watch Almanac. On the left, father time under large numbers reading 1871 carries a scythe over his left shoulder and holds a large pocket watch in his right hand. On the ground behind him, discarded, is an hourglass. In the right illustration, an anthropomorphized sun that appears as an old man with rays of light coming from his head hands a pocket watch to Mother Earth, who appears as an old woman with a globe as her body.
