Description
Long carved horizontal ivory body tapering to stem with circular mouth piece at one end, smoke hole with conical bowl at other end. Bowl carved with torso of figure with upraised arms. Central part of body carved as row of 9 seated figures with crouching dog(?). On one side, each figure's arm linked to the shoulder of the figure preceding, terminating with a figure at the front (towards bowl) with arm at his side. Below figures, figures's feet rest on horizontal deck(?) surmounting a row of 7 carved masks. To the right, 3 ducks or geese in a row. On the other side, each figure's arm linked to the waist of the figure behind, terminating with a figure at the back (near mouth piece) whose arm is bent forward. Below figures, 8 carved masks. 2 ducks or geese face one another over a rock(?) or mound.
