Object Details
- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view of the cliff-strewn coastline of Grand Manan Island off the coast of Canada, possibly near Southwest Head. In the foreground, a sandy beach curves from the lower right corner into the middle distance at center left, while grassy bluffs ascend from the beach and out of frame at left. A rugged and nearly vertical cliff dominates the composition at center, and is partly enshrouded due to the sun's low position. The top of the cliff is lightly wooded with several trees. A rocky outcropping is semi-submerged just beyond the tip of the cliff, while the ocean extends into the background at right. The sky above is hazy.
