- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view of autumn foliage in a rural area of Vermont, possibly near Castleton. Rolling, grassy terrain comprises the foreground and features a grazing cow at lower center. Beyond the cow, in the middle distance at center, a small building is situated at the edge of the treeline, with a split rail fence adjacent to it. A dense grove of deciduous trees at center is characterized by their yellow, orange, red, and light green autumn tones. In the background, the slope of a heavily wooded mountain ascends out of frame at right, below a dark, overcast sky.
