- Description
- Landscape sketch showing a view of Hohensalzburg Fortress in Salzburg, Austria, and the Untersberg in the background. In the foreground, bushes and trees surround a green clearing with a river possibly just beyond it. Wooded, rolling terrain in the middle distance leads to an abrupt hill at center crowned by a wide, imposing castle. Made up of white walls, the castle has two tall, round turrets at center and right. In the background at right, the rocky, snowy peak of Untersberg is visible. Scene likely takes place during sunrise. Grey ground visible along lower margin.
