Description
He is seated and holds in his right hand a metal, which rests on a round table on which is "The Royal Charter" of the Foundling Hospital. Before him lie his hat, a book, a globe showing the Western/or/Atlantic Ocean and a letter addressed to him. Behind him, between a drapery and a column, an indistinct statue (?) of a woman and child. In the left background a distant view of the sea with sailing vessels.
