Owned and used by Ishi (Yahi, ca. 1860-1916) during his time at the University of California Museum of Anthropology in San Francisco (1911-1916); probably acquired from Ishi before 1916 by Charles W. Furlong (1874-1967, an American explorer, writer, artist and photographer); purchased by MAI from Charles Furlong in 1916.
