Probably presented by the artist to his close friend Marion Hollenbach Saunders (Mrs. Allan Saunders, 1908-1998) in 1938 when they were students at the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, New Mexico); inherited by Marion Saunders' niece, Margaret Hollenbach; purchased by NMAI from Margaret Hollenbach in 2018.
