- Said to have been acquired by an unnamed man from the Netherlands in the late 1800s during travel in the United States; maintained in his grandson's possession in the Netherlands until 2003 when it was sold on eBay (online auction site) to an individual in the United States; seized by United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) agents on its entry into the US because it includes feathers from protected species; transferred by the US Fish and Wildlife Service to NMAI in 2005.
