Necklace with pendant

Object Details

Collection History
Product marketed and sold by the Fred Harvey Company (Indian arts dealers in the Southwest); donated to the Indian Arts and Crafts Board in 1969 by Kay Burgess (Cathryn Luella Riordan Burgess, 1912-1994), who operated concessions at Mount Rushmore in South Dakota in the 1950s and 1960s; part of the IACB Headquarters collection (Department of the Interior, Washington, DC) until 2000 when it was transferred to NMAI. In addition to collecting and encouraging Native arts, IACB also acquired items that exploited Native designs and used them in educational exhibits to demonstrate the differences between authentic Indian work and imitations.
