Collection history unknown; possibly from the collection of George A. Clark (1869-1914, President of the Tennessee, Kentucky, and Northern Railroad) and his wife Phebe Eastgate Clark (1871-1942); given or transferred to Mrs. Clark's sister Helen Eastgate Whitaker (Mrs. Simon P. Whitaker, 1857-1945) of Orange County, New York; inherited by Mrs. Whitaker's daughter Anna Whitaker Slaughter (Mrs. Eugene W. Slaughter, 1887-1972); donated to MAI by Mrs. Slaughter in 1970 in memory of Helen Eastgate Whitaker.
