- Formerly owned by Peter Jim (Peter Jim Anishinaba, Potawatomi, b. 1879); collected from him at an unknown date by Indian art collector David T. Vernon (1900-1973); acquired by MAI in 1968 through an exchange with the Jackson Hole Preserve, Inc. (a foundation backed by the Rockefeller family), which purchased Vernon's entire collection in 1965.
