Collection history unknown; purchased by MAI in 1966 from Arts of the Four Quarters, a New York City gallery owned and operated by Alan C. Lapiner (1933-1975) using monies from the "Sackler Fund," an MAI acquisition fund with many donors, including Dr. Arthur M. Sackler (1913-1987, a New York City physician, philanthropist, and art collector).
