- Formerly in the collection of Dr. Noah Miller Gladfelter (1837-1911, a US Army surgeon during the Civil War and later a physician and amateur botanist) and probably collected by him when he was stationed in the Dakota Territory between 1865 and 1867; inherited by his granddaughter Esther Fish Bear (Mrs. Donald Bear, 1905-1987); donated to MAI by Mrs. Bear in 1960.
