- Said to have been owned by Seminole war chief Osceola (ca. 1803-1838); collected or taken from him by Dr. Jacob Rhett Motte (1811-1868, a U.S. Army surgeon) at Fort Marion (St. Augustine, Florida); acquired by Dr. George Jackson Fisher (1825-1893, an obstetrician and collector in Ossining, New York) in 1848; acquired by the Union Free School, District One, Ossining, New York, in 1894; donated to MAI by the Union Free School in 1960.
