Collection history unknown; formerly in the collection of Dr. John Vance Lauderdale (1832-1931, a U.S. Army surgeon) or his brother Dr. Walter E. Lauderdale, 1850-1933); inherited by Dr. Walter Lauderdale's son, Walter Elliott Lauderdale (1886-1953); inherited by Walter Elliott Lauderdale's widow Helen Jenkins Lauderdale (1888-1981); purchased by MAI from Helen Jenkins Lauderdale through Helen S. Lauderdale (1890-1975, sister of Walter Elliott Lauderdale and an antique dealer in Geneseo, New York) in 1954.
