Found about 1912 by the children of Dr. E.M. Soule (of Unity, Maine); presented by Dr. Soule to Walter Brown Smith (1858-1939, of Bangor, Maine) in 1927; inherited by Walter Smith's daughter Hazel Smith (1891-1973); purchased by MAI from Hazel Smith in 1951.
