Newcomb (probably Bessie Bulen Newcomb [1883-1979], a city clerk in Long Beach, California, who grew up in Montana); purchased by MAI from Bessie B. Newcomb in 1948 using funds donated by the Viking Fund, Inc. (The Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research, Inc.).
