- Collection history unknown; formerly in the collection of Dan Frost (1850-1943, proprietor of Stephen A. Frost and Son, a New York City Indian goods company and a collector of beads and Indian artifacts); sold by Mrs. Anna M. Stanley, his long-time nurse and possibly his heir or executrix, through an auction held by Kende Galleries Inc. at Gimbel Brothers (New York City); purchased by MAI at the Kende Galleries auction in 1943 using proceeds from collection sales to Julius Carlebach (1909-1964; Julius Carlebach Gallery, New York).
