Collection history unknown, but said to have been found in 1880; formerly in the collection of geologist Josiah P. Haskins (1830-1916), who operated a private natural museum in Saratoga Springs; purchased from Josiah Haskins by Marshall G. Hill (of Afton, New York) at an unknown date; purchased by MAI from Marshall Hill in 1942.
