Collected by Major John H. Waugh (1853-1894, U.S. Indian agent at the Turtle Mountain and Fort Totten/Devil's Lake reservations from 1890 to 1893); inherited by his widow, Ella Hammond Waugh (1853-1946), and his children, John Harold Waugh (1878-1956) and Edna B. Waugh (1883-1967); lent to MAI by Ella Waugh, John Waugh, and Edna Waugh in 1941 in memory of Major Waugh and never reclaimed.
