- Said to have been collected in 1845 by Monsieur Martin (the French consul at Oaxaca); purchased by French antiquities collector Eugene Boban (1834-1908) in 1870; sold to French antiquities collector Eugene Goupil (1831-1896) circa 1888; acquired by collector and dealer Charles Ratton (1895-1986) at an unknown date; purchased by George Heye in 1937 from the Galerie Charles Ratton (Paris, France), operated by art dealer and collector Charles Ratton (1895-1986).
