Probably collected by Charles F. Newcombe (1851-1924, a physician and collector in British Columbia); purchased in 1900 by Stewart Culin (1858-1929, later of the Brooklyn Museum) for the Free Museum of Art and Science; acquired by George Heye through an exchange with the Free Museum of Science and Art in 1908.
