Made by the children of Chief George Major Cook (Pamunkey, 1860-1930) and his wife Theodora Octavia Dennis Cook (Pamunkey, 1863-1954); purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Cook in 1908 by anthropologist Mark Raymond Harrington (1882-1971, MAI staff member) during fieldwork sponsored by George Heye.
