- Formerly owned by William Gardner (Narragansett/adopted Stockbridge Mahican, ca. 1796-ca. 1875); inherited by his son Jeremiah Gardner (Stockbridge Mahican, 1836-1928) and subsequently by Jeremiah Garner's widow, Jeanette Gardner (Wisconsin Oneida, 1830-1936); collected from Mrs. Gardner between 1928 and 1934 by Paul J. Warner (1881-1950, an amateur ethnologist employed at the Field Museum of Natural History, Chicago, Illinois); purchased by MAI from Paul Warner in 1934.
