- Excavated in 1931 or 1932 by Therkel Mathiassen (1892-1967, Danish archaeologist, ethnographer, and cartographer) during fieldwork sponsored by the Nationalmuseet (National Museum, Copenhagen, Denmark); subsequently in the collection of the Nationalmuseet; acquired by MAI through an exchange with the Nationalmuseet in 1932.
