Bell

Object Details

Collection History
Formerly owned by John Wannuaucon Quinney (1787-1855), a leader of the Stockbridge Mahican tribe in Wisconsin; inherited by his daughter-in-law, Phoebe Ann Doxtater Quinney (Stockbridge Mahican, 1860-1936); acquired by Ruth Gaines (1877-1952, MAI librarian) from Phoebe Ann Quinney on behalf of Mabel Choate (1870-1958, founder of the Mission House Association in Stockbridge, Massachusetts); lent by Mabel Choate to MAI in 1929. This item appears to have been accidentally left in MAI's possession when Miss Choate reclaimed her loan collection in 1935.
