Collected by John Louw Nelson (1895-1963, a musical performer and amateur ethnologist); purchased by MAI from John Louw Nelson in 1929; removed from the MAI collection in 1964 and transferred to the Textile Museum (Washington, DC); returned to NMAI by the Textile Museum in 2003.
