Formerly owned by well-known mask maker Miguel Chuc (Kʼicheʼ Maya); purchased from him in 1925 by anthropologist Samuel K. Lothrop (1892-1965, MAI staff member) during the MAI's S. K. Lothrop Central American Expedition.
