Formerly owned by Lame Deer (Minneconjou Lakota, ca. 1821-1877); collected after his death in 1877 by General Nelson A. Miles (1839-1925, US Army); inherited by his children, Major General Sherman Miles (1882-1966) and Cecelia Miles Reber (Mrs. Samuel K. Reber, 1869-1952); donated to MAI by Major General Sherman Miles and Cecelia Miles Reber in 1925.
