Collected by General Nelson A. Miles (1839-1925, U.S. Army), probably during campaigns on the Southern Plains between 1869 and 1875; inherited by his children, Major General Sherman Miles (1882-1966) and Cecelia Miles Reber (Mrs. Samuel K. Reber, 1869-1952); donated to MAI by Major General Sherman Miles and Cecelia Miles Reber in 1925.
