Collected in 1915 by Claude Vigneau (1881-1966), who served aboard the Arctic patrol ship "C.G.S. Arctic" from 1908 until at least 1923; purchased by MAI from Claude Vigneau in 1924 through anthropologist Frank G. Speck (1881-1950).
