Collected in 1900 by Edmund B. Delabarre (1863-1945, a Brown University psychology professor who led a scientific expedition to Labrador for Harvard University and Brown); purchased by anthropologist Frank G. Speck (1881-1950) from Edmund Delabarre, probably between 1920 and 1924; purchased by MAI from Frank Speck in 1924.
