Collection history unknown; formerly in the collection of J. Carson Brevoort (1818-1887, a collector of rare books and coins and president of the Long Island Historical Society); presented by him to the Long Island Historical Society in 1864; lent to MAI by the Long Island Historical Society in 1921; donated to NMAI by the Brooklyn Historical Society in 2020.
