Collection history unknown, but said to have been collected in 1879; acquired by Lieutenant George T. Emmons (1852-1945, US Navy 1881-1899) through an exchange with the United States National Museum; lent to MAI by George T. Emmons in 1920; purchased by MAI from George Emmons in 1924.
