Said to have been owned by "the father of Mrs. Sundown" (possibly John P. Poodry, Tonawanda Seneca [ca. 1821-1881], father of Margaret Poodry Sundown); formerly in the collection of Joseph Keppler, Jr. (1872-1956, a long-time friend of George Heye); purchased by George Heye from Joseph Keppler in 1906.
