January 17

This day marks the centennial of the beginning of Prohibition in the United States. In this album, The New Lost City Ramblers (consisting of Mike Seeger, John Cohen, and Paley), perform 17 folk songs related to bootlegging, Prohibition and the effects of liquor in the style of southern mountain string bands.
